Great! So, that time of my life has began, again. Holidays are OVER, please don’t remind me. And I’m of cause left for hours on end figuring out what to do with all my spare time. It’s a lot harder than you might think and I should get a whole lot more credit for it! The last two weeks spoilt me, too say the least, always having company and somebody to talk too, even though at times I was pulling my hair out! None the less, I’m almost 100 percent sure that someone in my virtual circle feels the way I do and recently might have found themselves with plenty of free time and if so, keep reading.
EMBRACE YOUR ALONE TIME
As daunting as it might seem to be all alone, I’ve realised that being alone is my special time to embrace me. Having time to myself gives me the chance to step back from all the activity of my daily life and gives me time to actually be with myself and appreciate my own company.
I like doing a little introspection on the odd day. This is something that’s been engraved in me by my school teachers for years and now has become second nature to me. This helps me to think about the past day, week or month and consider all the positive aspects as well as personal weaknesses. It helps me to analyse my shortcomings and think of ways too improve as a person. So, I usually use this time alone as an opportunity get to know myself better.
A vital component that contributes to success is organisation. I, sometimes lack in this department because life gets a little too comfortable, so I like to use my free time to get the house back in shape. If you keep your life organised you will be able to create a balance in your life. Alone time, isn’t that bad after all.
This is all about your personal preference. Do something for yourself that you really wanted to do for the longest time but haven’t had the time. I usually browse the Web for DIY face masks and try some out. I also enjoy soothing foot soaks with my favourite essential oil, lavender. And just to really get into it, I like to light a few candles, turn on calming music, and allow myself to relax. This part is really all about what you absolutely deserve!
START A BLOG
This is a creative outlet. Writing is another creative outlet where you can express yourself and have a physical piece of work to enjoy later on. Blogging for me has openned a door I never knew existed. I’ve developed a love and skill for writing. I am never bored because and I can update my blog with new posts every time I have some spare time. The greatest thing about starting a blog is that it can provide you with endless amounts of entertainment, trust me. If you have something to share with the world, now is the perfect time to start.
CREATE A VISIONARY CHART
In simple terms, a collage. It’s fun, creative and keeps you busy for hours. I usually cut out words and pictures from old mazagines that inspire me and that reflect a goal I want to achieve and then paste it all onto a chart. You now have your very own personal vision board that you can hang up on a wall. I highly recommend you do this, and get has crafty as you like, because this is a positive reminder of the life you want to create for yourself, each and every day.
Lately I’ve been slacking on exercise and personal well being so I like to use my spare time to get a little more active. It’s an excellent way to pass the time while also improving your overall physical and mental well being. My personal favourite is Hip Hop Abs, I absolutely love dancing. Whatever you do, JUST HAVE FUN!
If you find yourself playing with your toes at some point in all this time alone then maybe you should get up, grab a camera and take walk outside and capture anything and everything that catches your eye. Enjoy what nature has to offer. You will find that photography can be very therapeutic as well. It’s a great form of creative expression and you can share your findings with the world via social media.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW
As I grow older, I’ve come to realize how important knowledge really is. The lifelong practice of learning is what makes us humans and our lives worthwhile. Learning deepens our character and makes us more inspiring to those around us. Learning helps us more easily and readily adapt to new situations. Knowledge is power and I enjoy using this time alone to learn new things. At the moment I’m learning new recipes and how to cook better meals for us. I’m having heaps of fun in the kitchen and getting better every day.
Only a few people enjoy being alone. Nevertheless, solitude can make you more self-sufficient, add to your confidence, and help you get to know yourself a lot better. After learning how to use my alone time productively did I only start to appreciate the little things in life. I have so much to offer, I just need to take the time out to discover it all.
What do you enjoying by yourself? I’d love to hear from you.
